Chapeau runs in your browser. Your projects stay on your device, there is no account to create, and nothing you write is sent anywhere.

This page describes what the app stores, what it requests, and what it does not collect.

The short version#

• No account, and no sign-in.
• No analytics, no tracking, and no advertising.
• Chapeau sets no cookies.
• Your documents, images and settings stay in your browser.
• Nothing you type, place or import is transmitted.

What Chapeau stores on your device#

Your work is kept in your browser's own storage, under the address you are using Chapeau from. It holds:

• Your projects: pages, text, and the position of everything on them.
• Images you add, stored as part of the project.
• Snapshots, the earlier versions you can return to.
• Fonts you have used, kept so they load instantly next time and work offline.
• Your preferences, such as the units and view options you last chose.

This storage belongs to your browser on this device. It is not shared with another browser, another computer, or with us.

What Chapeau requests from the network#

Opening Chapeau downloads the app itself, in the same way as any web page. Choosing a font downloads that font. Both come from chapeau.ink.

That is the whole list. There is no request that carries your work, your preferences, or a record of what you did.

Once the app has loaded it can run with no connection at all, and a font you have already used stays available offline.

What Chapeau does not do#

• It does not collect analytics or usage statistics.
• It does not use tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or advertising.
• It does not load fonts, scripts, or images from other companies.
• It does not set cookies.
• It has no accounts, so there is nothing to profile.

Server records#

Like any website, the server that sends you the app receives the ordinary requests your browser makes for it: the address of the file, and the network address it is sent to. These are the mechanics of loading a page, not a record of your work. Your documents are never part of a request.

Leaving Chapeau#

The Buy me a coffee link opens another company's website. Nothing is shared when the link is merely on screen; if you follow it, that site's own privacy terms apply from then on.

Exporting and printing#

PDF and PNG files are produced on your device by your browser, and printing goes to your own printer through the usual print dialog. Exported files are not uploaded anywhere.

Removing your data#

Clearing site data for Chapeau in your browser settings removes everything above: projects, images, snapshots, cached fonts and preferences. It cannot be undone from inside the app, and it does not affect any .chapeau files you have already saved to your computer.

Uninstalling an installed copy of Chapeau may clear its storage too, depending on the browser.

Because your work lives in one browser on one device, keep .chapeau files as backups for anything you would not want to lose.

Who makes Chapeau#

Chapeau is made by xexio.dev, and served from chapeau.ink. Where this page says "us", that is who it means. As above, nothing you make in Chapeau reaches us.

Changes to this page#

If what Chapeau stores or requests ever changes, this page changes with it.
